grahamstown street style: red red style

[tu mnyameni]

don't the red stalkings just get your attention? that's exactly why i photographed her.
i feel like this picture isn't actually showing this outfit properly. its the first official day
of winter in south africa today, tu definitely welcomed what will be
the coldest winter in life (yiiikes!) in style.

the turban saves the day

[turban - gift from my second mom, aunty e]

my hair is a bit of a mess right now, to the point that i've been living in hats and
turbans for the past week and a half. thank you to the turban for
saving the world from experiencing my terribly hair days!

beauty must have: pink lipstick

the looks i'm wearing are:
[rimmel's long lasting finish lipstick - pink blush (006) R90]
[rimmel's moisturee renew lipstick - lily extase (340) R80]

lipstick is probably the most provocative of the cosmetics in our makeup bag. it is bright, draws attention to your mouth and oozes sensuality and femininity. my obsession at the moment is pink lipstick! a lot of the time when i'm having a dull day and need instant brightening, i put on my brightest lippy.

every shade of girl has their own shade of pink that they can play with, but generally i don't like to stick to these rules. but i'll still give you the low-down on which shades of pink you could make your friend depending on the shade of your complexion.

lighter in complexion ladies can use light pinks (almost pale peach) all the way to deeper and brighter pinks. medium in complexion  ladies, darker shades of soft pinks as well as darker pinks are a guaranteed winner for you. the more chocolate ladies should stay away from the lighter pinks and make friends with darker pinks, like fuchsia's and deep purples.

it does help to put on some foundation on your lips before applying lipstick to guarantee longer lasting coverage. and if you're out dancing - sip on your drink using a straw to keep your lips looking bright and pretty for longer!

xoxo

the queen of all things individualistic: grace jones

miss grace jones, the queen of all things individualistic and quite possibly the only controversial icon left from the 80’s. her fearless style and aura is being emulated by many-a-popstars *cough cough* rihanna, lady gaga *cough cough*. grace jones is the original bad- ass, one of the first in the music industry to refuse to be anything but herself. and while some of the things she says and does, i would never do, you've got to admire the fact that she is 100% grace jones.

grahamstown street style: sheer genius

why is it that the days i forget my camera at home, i see the most amazing people to photograph. this was one of those days. i had to use my blackberry curve 8520, my bad boy has no flash and its 1.3 mega pixel picture quality did the best it could! this is khwaza looking fabulous in a sheer top. i love the headgear and sunglasses. all round effortless fabulosity!

that beyonce work ethic

it's exams for me now (uuuuugggh!) and beyonce has been an  incredible inspiration for me and my friends. she is probably one of the most hardworking people in the music industry, always striving to do better, go bigger, top herself. we could all learn a thing or two from 'b'. so whenever i'm struggling to study with all the caffeine wearing off, i play 'who run the world (girls) and 'best thing i never had' and i turn on....THAT BEYONCE WORK ETHIC!

[beyonce's new album drops on the 28th of june]

grahamstown eatery: mad hatters coffee shop & bistro

mad matters is a cosy coffee shop and bistro in grahamstown. it has very quirky and colorful decor, a light energy and is quite warm. the menu has a lot to offer - burgers, sandwiches, salads, quiches, cake with an array of espresso's and coffees. breakfast is served all day (airpunch!) if you've never been, try it out. a meal will set you back about R50, not toooo bad for a student town. mad hatters is open monday to friday (8am to 5pm) and saturdays (9am to 3pm)

p.s. yes, it is fully licensed. don't say i don't have your back :)
