grahamstown street style: like a deep blue sea

mpumi

i adore her loose top. the material is gorgeous. the color is delicious. the buttons are amazing!
mpumi is always so well put together, nails never chipped, hair always right, outfit always amaze - i'm a little jealous cause i've never seen her have one of those 'i-don't-care-what-i-look-like-on-campus' days. i'm also loving all the rings, i also like wearing a lot of different rings at the same time.

inside story world premier

last week thursday (world aids day), my mom and i went to the inside story world premier at killarney mall in johannesburg. i know when people hear of a movie about hiv/aids they tend to switch off, but this movie is really different! i'd considered myself pretty educated when it came to hiv/aids, but this movie showed me how ignorant i was but also taught me so much. it focuses on the science of hiv in the body - i'm talking about atoms and everything- from the date of infection to living with the virus and how your body works to fight it. the story line is also amazing, with a proudly african cast. the movie is directed by south african rolie nikiwe. inside story comes out in february 2012 in theatres across the world and i really encourage everyone to watch it when it comes out! but for now, you can check out the inside story website for more information

i tried to snap a photo of some of the cast, director and producers but there was such pandemonium after we'd all seen the movie

producer aric noboa, actor seth zimu, director rolie nikiwe, producer harriet gavshon, actress kendra etufunywa and actor kevin ndege mamboleo

my mom and i after the movie, on our way to the after party at hush!

have a magical monday!

grahamstown street style: sweet love vintage

cebisa

i love her style, she always looks amazing e-v-ery-day! she's a thrifter and she got her awesome velvet body suit with lace detail (i hope you can see it) for R20 in king williams town. her awesome grandpa jersey is courtesy of the sunshine hospice right here in grahamstown. don't you love her style?

i keep thinking about how much i'm going to miss this place next year... the energy, the people, the scenery. grahamstown is a really amazing place...

the story of a shoe

" few people know how to take a walk. the qualifications are endurance, plain clothes, old shoes, an eye for nature, good humor, vast curiosity, good spech, good silence and nothing too much"
 -ralph waldo emerson

these vintage brown leather ankle boots are my friend suvania's. i loved them from the moment i saw them. she got them from her mom - once again proving that ALL the best items can't be bought in stores anymore! they are beautiful shoes and i found myself trying to figure out where su's mom wore them, what she wore them with or even where she got them!

what would you wear these shoes with?

my style: ebony & ivory

i found these pictures when i was going through my pictures. they were taken in port alfred when shibu, lauren and i spent the day there a few months back. i still had hair then! i've never actually worn this dress out, cause i get a little self concious that its a bit short but i had fun taking pictures in it

 *
(earrings - selfmade, vintage white dress, zoom black ankle boots, shibu's black bag)

i love this bridge so much. thank you to lauren for having such an amazing eye for all things
awesome.

i feel like i look so strange with hair! haha, what do you think?

my style: retro striped

it's been so long since my last post. i've really missed my candy lovers!
a lot has happened in the last week or so. i chopped all my hair off and started exams
which are actually just messing with my lifestyle -- its depressing.
bulelwa took  these photos when we were on our way to campus and she insisted that i don't pull my 'usual poses' - i have 3 poses that i take turns recycling in  almost eeeeevery photo.
 but don't we all?

(vintage striped top, belt - london market, shorts- meltz, stalkings - woolworths, brogues - mr price, rings - stolen from my besties)

to everyone writing exams - all the very best! to everyone working - have an amazing week ahead! and to everyone doing everything in between - be good at it!

all my love

my style: emerald city

i have a really interesting story about these pants.
i got them at a second hand store in east london and when i first got them ALL of my friends hated them! okay granted, they are spandex and they did have slits down the sides (lol -- juust like a disco queen) but i had a vision. i took them to my tailor and had them shortened a little bit and had those ghastly slits closed and viola!

my friend sunali and i

(polka dot shirt - bulelwa's closet, navy blue bag - my gran's closet, nude pumps - mr price)

what do you think of these pants??

cape town street style: color my world

this is my best friend inge wulff. has color blocking ever looked more amazing??!
this is what she wore to work. i reeally believe one can conquer the world in couture

inge is wearing a royal blue silk skirt from kluk and gladiator heels from woolworths
she was also wearing a beeeeeautiful coral cropped blazer from kluk but i think it was 90degrees out or something ridiculous

how many of you can say that you have a coat named after you? pretty nifty huh?

inge has made me a lot of beeeautiful clothing and i will be sharing some of the items she's made for me over the years.

my style: lovely leopard

last week i was lucky enough to be in the mother city (cape toooowwwn!!!) whoop!
i got to see friends and family and watch one of the greatest bands in the world - COLDPLAY!
i did get to take great pictures which i'll share with you this week.

on this day i spent the day with my best friend inge at work (our very own take a girl to work day). she works at kluk and i literally felt like a kid in a candy store! the store is amazing! malcom kluk and christiaan gabriel du toit (don't you love it how i'm making it seem like we're on a first name basis haha) are aaamaze. to me they are like the dolce and gabana of rsa but on crack (not literally).

these lucious leopard print shoes are from zoom :)

messing around at the store. inge and i believe that we were birds in our past lives and that we are gay men trapped in women's bodies. it makes sense. trust us!

grahamstown street style: cupcake heaven

moshibudi

shibu and i were chilling at the kaif yesterday talking about everything, including new ideas for both our blogs. there are some great plans in the pipe-line to make your reading experience a little more fun and interactive.
conversation wouldn't be complete without something cute to munch on, and im in love with this image.
hope you like it!
shibu's blog is beeeeeautiful! lauren and i have been trying to convince her to start modelling so that we can finance our lifestyles! haha, do yourself a favor and check out her blog and also hype her looks on lookbook!
